Through the week of April 19-23rd, we partnered with Krispy Kreme to help raise funds for UNICEF's Ukraine Relief campaign. By purchasing a box of a dozen glazed donuts, not only did our donors receive a delicious treat, but they also helped save the lives of the world's most vulnerable people. Club members volunteered their Saturday mornings to deliver boxes to local doorsteps. We raised $600 with almost 70 orders!
In support of UNICEF's initiatives of End Human Trafficking in January and Female Empowerment in February, we hosted a free event regarding safety and self-awareness for our community to help contribute to a safer community. With an engaging presentation by Officer Justine Theilen from the Los Gatos Police Department, followed by a class on self-defense by Coach Julia Moreci, a quintuple National Blackbelt League World Title winner, we had over 50 attendees of all ages and genders learning some life-saving tips and tricks.
Considering the upcoming holiday and cold winter season, we decided to host a donation drive for a school in a neighboring community, Boynton High School in Campbell. With a high percentage of minority students and families unprovided for, experiencing life drastically different from ours despite being solely 15 minutes away, we felt it was essential to use our privilege and lend a helping hand. Through donations from club members and other students, we collected over 20 trash bags full of food and clothing!
As our first event for the 2021-22 school year, we decided to have a Hallloween-themed movie night! We had attendees from Fisher middle school, local elementary schools, and the high school. We sold "Boo Bags", filled with candy and popcorn to raise money for the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF initiative. We played Disney's Coco- our club members' Halloween favorite!
Through the week of April 19-23rd, we partnered with Krispy Kreme to help raise funds for UNICEF's COVAX campaign of delivering 2 billion COVID vaccine doses by the end of 2021. By purchasing a box of a dozen glazed donuts, not only did our donors receive a delicious treat, but they also helped save the lives of the world's most vulnerable people. Club members volunteered their Saturday mornings to deliver boxes to local doorsteps. We raised $1000 with almost 100 orders!
While UNICEF is involved in several aspects of child development, a critical initiative is access to education. UNICEF wanted to help children stay committed and excited to learn even during the pandemic. To support this initiative, we engaged our local community with a series of 3-6 minute long read-aloud videos pre-recorded by our club members. Our members got the opportunity to act as the “big buddies” and inspire a love for learning in children!
In light of Human Trafficking Awareness Month, we decided to host a trafficking awareness week the last week of January. Through informative and engaging Instagram posts, we educated about the various aspects of human trafficking, such as the 2 different types, where and why it occurs, and what we could do to help prevent and end trafficking. Check out our Instagram below for a closer look!
World Children’s Day was first established in 1954 and is celebrated on November 20th every year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare. We created a video discussing what children's rights were and what they meant to us, how children's rights may have been affected during COVID-19, and what everyone can do to support and uphold children's rights. Visit our YouTube channel to view it!
As our first event for the 2020-2021 school year, we decided to host a virtual Halloween fair! We had four different Halloween themed activities: a showing of the Charlie Brown Halloween movie, 'spooky-scary-skeletons' TikTok dance, wicked-good cupcake baking, and pumpkin decorating.
In light of COVID-19, as a club, we decided to thank all the essential workers who bravely committed their time and energy into saving and improving lives, even during such a turbulent time. Not only did club members participate, but students at the elementary and middle schools, council members, and even the mayor were featured too! Check out our home page or visit our YouTube channel to view it!
As our first event during quarantine, we created an online fundraiser through GoFundMe, where all the proceeds went towards clean water, soap, medical kits, gloves, and other essential resources in ensuring safety for millions across the globe.
We were so honored to have partnered with Super Duper Burgers in hosting a fundraiser for UNICEF, specifically for the nutritional aspect of UNICEF initiatives. 20% of all profits were graciously donated to us, and we had a great time advocating for UNICEF throughout the day!
Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is an annual October event where UNICEF supporters collect donations to help save and improve children's lives around the globe. Using the traditional orange UNICEF Trick-or-Treat boxes, we, alongside thousands of other clubs and supporters, gathered funds throughout the week of Halloween for UNICEF as our first ever club event, and were able to raise more than $200 in practically just coins!
